Lake Tahoe Moon Elopement at Logan Shoals and Emerald Bay

Lake Tahoe blood moon elopement

There are Lake Tahoe elopements, and then there are the once-in-a-lifetime moments that feel almost magical. This Lake Tahoe blood moon elopement was one of those unforgettable experiences. My couple intentionally planned their entire day around the rare lunar event, creating a celebration that began with a peaceful sunset ceremony at Logan Shoals and ended with dramatic night portraits under the glowing full moon at Emerald Bay. The combination of still water, snowy rocks, and moonlit skies made this Tahoe elopement truly unforgettable.

A Sunset Elopement Ceremony at Logan Shoals

The day began at Logan Shoals along the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe. With the lake perfectly calm and the sky crystal clear, it was the kind of afternoon that reminds you why so many couples choose a Lake Tahoe elopement. The couple kept their ceremony incredibly intimate, inviting only their parents to witness the moment.

They exchanged vows beneath a beautiful pine tree overlooking the lake while officiant Eileen Lynch led a heartfelt ceremony. My bride chose a stunning black ankle-length dress that felt both modern and elegant against the Tahoe backdrop. She also did her own hair and makeup, which added such a personal and relaxed feel to the day.

With the sun setting behind the mountains and the water glowing in soft evening light, the ceremony felt peaceful, emotional, and incredibly intentional.

Planning a Lake Tahoe moon elopement

What made this Lake Tahoe elopement especially unique was that the couple planned their entire wedding day around the blood moon. Lunar events like this only happen occasionally, and the idea of capturing their wedding portraits beneath the full moon created an unforgettable vision.

After their ceremony at Logan Shoals, we made our way to Emerald Bay, one of the most iconic locations in Lake Tahoe, to wait for the moonrise.

A Lake Tahoe Night Elopement at Emerald Bay Under the Moon

By the time we reached Emerald Bay, the sky had turned completely dark. With very little light beyond the moon itself, we navigated the snowy rocks carefully as the temperature dropped and the wind picked up. Despite the cold and darkness, my couple was fully committed to creating something unique.

Using only the moonlight reflecting across the lake, we captured dramatic silhouette portraits featuring the glowing full moon, the stars overhead, and the soft shimmer of moonlight across the water. The snowy shoreline and rugged rocks created the perfect natural frame for these nighttime elopement photos.

The result was something truly special; images that feel cinematic, romantic, and completely different from traditional wedding photography.

Why Lake Tahoe is Perfect for Unique Elopements

Lake Tahoe offers an incredible variety of landscapes for couples planning an elopement. Within a short distance you can experience forest views, dramatic cliffs, alpine lakes, and iconic locations like Emerald Bay.

For couples looking to create something adventurous and personal, whether it’s a sunrise ceremony, sunset vows, or even a moonlit elopement like this one, Tahoe provides a stunning natural backdrop year-round.

This blood moon elopement at Logan Shoals and Emerald Bay was a reminder that the most meaningful wedding days are often the most intentional ones. By planning their day around something as rare and beautiful as a lunar event, this couple created an experience that was deeply personal and completely unforgettable.
