I’ve had the privilege of photographing this wonderful family before in Truckee, California. When Carlos reached out again—this time to plan and capture his Truckee proposal—I was absolutely thrilled!
Planning proposals is always such a joy. Being part of such a monumental moment in a couple’s life is truly an honor. To add to the importance of this session, they were expecting their second child! Carlos shared his vision of a pier adorned with candles. I knew exactly the right location and team to bring his dream to life.
The Team
Planning the perfect Truckee proposal photos requires the right team, and it’s all about bringing together expertise in every detail. While I excel at scouting stunning locations and capturing spectacular photos, I always turn to the pros for setup. For Carlos’s vision, I reached out to The Hytch and shared his inspiration photos. I hoped they could bring his dream of a candlelit pier to life. Sure enough, they delivered with a breathtaking arrangement of candles that perfectly set the stage for this unforgettable moment.
The Moment & Photos
The proposal could not have been more perfect. Surrounded by stunning snow-capped trees and majestic mountains, the pier glowed with the soft light of candles, while the water lay still and serene, creating an idyllic backdrop. Nearby, family waited with the couple’s child and beloved dogs, ready to cheer them on and celebrate the moment after the big question was asked.
After the proposal, we made our way to one of my favorite overlooks, offering a breathtaking view of Donner Lake in its entirety. It was the perfect spot to capture incredible photos celebrating their engagement and pregnancy. We even included a few heartfelt moments with their daughter and beloved dogs. The evening was nothing short of magical—a truly unforgettable Truckee proposal.
